First impressions were surprising; the product was so light and attractive when it was delivered to the construction site in Rosevinge Park in Moss that the fitters wondered whether they had received the right material. They had expected something similar to the old, heavy mesh mats they were used to working with.
In record time, HnH Isolering has become a preferred player in the field of technical insulation, and is now one of the largest insulation companies in eastern Norway. So it's important to dare and try new products.
When they tried Paroc HVAC AirCoat for the first time, it wasn't just the first impression that surprised them - throughout the whole process, everyone involved became more and more convinced never to use traditional mesh mats to insulate such ducts again.
Paroc HVAC AirCoat is a prefabricated insulation shell for round ventilation ducts with dimensions from 100 to 200 mm. The product is made of fireproof rock wool, has fire resistance class EI30 and is coated with reinforced aluminum foil. It is also available in solutions adapted to different angles and tees.
A new world of insulation for ventilation ducts with EI30 requirements
- “It's a whole new world for installers. They could hardly believe that it was possible,” says Bjørn Matlok, Chairman of HnH Isolering.
He goes on to say that there were many challenges with the traditional product, such as dust and cutting. “Now the installers don't have to do a lot of cleaning up and vacuuming on projects.
Many of these ducts are also located in shafts and places that are both narrow and difficult to access. So it's very easy to adapt the insulation bowl from Paroc HVAC AirCoat.
After completing the project in Rosevinge Park, the installers hope that they can continue to use Paroc HVAC AirCoat when insulating ducts in the future.
Safe with follow-up from Isopartner
Trond Erik Johansen, Key Account Manager at Isopartner says that HnH Isolering bought a few hundred meters of Paroc HVAC AirCoat for the project in Rosevinge park in Moss and completed the work without any problems.
Since it was the first time HnH Isolering used the pipe bowls, they were naturally excited about how they would be to work with.
- “We have received very good follow-up from Isopartner. They have been a good professional support all the way,” says Bjørn.
Another simplified step was that the insulation was delivered on time directly to the construction site.

- “New products are always a bit scary to try, but this time we are very happy that we took the chance to do things in a new way,” says Bjørn.
Now that Bjørn has seen the benefits of Paroc HVAC AirCoat, he has no doubts. He will continue to use it and recommends everyone to try the product.

Faster, lighter and less waste
Trond Erik explains that Paroc HVAC AirCoat is quicker to work with and lighter in weight than the alternative mesh mats. It is also less dusty and, as previously mentioned, has less waste.
- Simply remove the plastic and install it on the duct! Suddenly, you have 1.2 m of insulation instead of 0.6 m with a mesh mat that you also had to roll out on the floor to cut to the right length, as well as remove the wool to get an overlap to sew it together on the ducts,” he says.
He goes on to say that the product is also brilliant for more than just insulating against a fire requirement. “For thermal insulation in cold attics where the requirement is 100 mm, it is excellent to insulate small ducts with Paroc HVAC AirCoat on the first layer, and then install 50 mm lamella mat on top.
- All insulators know how difficult it is to insulate with 100 mm on such small ducts. Less wastage, which is both economical and good for the environment, is not a bad thing either,” says Trond Erik.
