In this exciting episode, we talk to Birger Susort, who is a board member of Isoleringsforum. Together we discuss the NM and EM in technical insulation, and how these competitions lift the profession and promote new talent. We also talk about recruitment, the challenges of attracting young people to the industry, and how technical insulation can be recognised as a separate business.
Which product is Tec7 releasing now? Join us for stand-hopping at this year's insulation event in Oslo
On 22 August, ISOPARTNER Oslo held its annual partner fair, which was once again well attended by customers and manufacturers. In this reporter version of ‘Isolert sett’, we talk to those who were at the stand that day and get tips on products that can halve installation time, cool new products that have just been released, and much more.
Paroc: How to cut labour time in half with pipe insulation and jacketing in one product
In this episode, we talk to Frank Christian Klausen, sales manager for technical insulation at Paroc Owens Corning Norway. Frank talks about his background and his job at Paroc. We also discuss football interests and supporter clubs. He then talks about Paroc and its role in the insulation industry, as well as the technology behind stone wool products. Frank also presents Paroc Kombi Alu Coat T and Paroc Pro Clad, the product that can save up to 60% of the installation time since you do not need to sheath afterwards.
The pipe and insulation industry is crying out for labour: How do you get women to choose the trade?
Barely 10 per cent of employees in the plumbing industry are women, and only 2.4 per cent of plumbers are women. The figures are hardly better in the insulation industry. At the same time, both these industries are crying out for labour. A third perspective is that diversity is profitable, so how can we facilitate more women finding their way to and thriving in our industry? We were visited by Pernille K. Snustad-Setsaas from the Ingeborg Network, which aims to increase the proportion of women in the pipe industry to 20 per cent. It was an exciting conversation in which we also had to dispel some myths.
Aker Solutions about the ISO factory at Stord and the ‘Academy’
In this episode we have a visit from Thomas Heidenreich-Riis, who is Material & MTO Responsible Insulation at Aker Solutions Stord. The yard specialises in the assembly of large platform decks and modules for onshore facilities. Among the more recent projects is the Johan Castberg production ship, which will be sent to the Barents Sea, 200 kilometres north of the coast of Finnmark, where it will produce oil for Equinor for a full 30 years. The topic of this episode is Akers Solutions' ISO factory, which produces prefabricated cladding, fire boxes and more.
Aerogel and Oryza Sil 650: How NASA's miracle material is used in the insulation industry (with Beerenberg)
In this episode, we explore the miracle material Aerogel, also known as frozen smoke or blue smoke - a substance with unique insulation properties, which has been used by NASA's Mars Rover to collect stardust. In the third episode of Isolert sett, we're joined by Henrik Vinslo, Technical Manager at Polyseam Norway. We talk about the importance of passive fire protection in buildings to prevent and limit the spread of fire. The increase in fires in 2020 is due to factors such as home office layouts and increased loads on electrical systems.
