Aker Solutions: The ISO factory at Stord and the road to the future

In this episode of the podcast Isolert sett, we head to Stord to get to know Aker Solutions and their innovative ISO factory. Joining us is Thomas Heidenreich-Riis, Material & MTO Responsible Insulation at the yard, which specialises in the assembly of large platform decks and modules for onshore facilities.

The ISO factory at Stord is an important part of Aker Solutions' work with prefabricated insulation, including sheathing and fire boxes. Thomas shares how this contributes to efficiency and quality in large projects, such as the Johan Castberg production ship - a prestigious project that will soon be operating in the Barents Sea for Equinor.

We also cover a number of other exciting topics:

  • The Aker Academy and how the apprenticeship programme ensures the insulators of the future.
  • Digitalisation in the industry and how modern technology is used for surveying and design.
  • Insulation in practice, from flanges and valves to prefabrication.
  • How skills development and collaboration drive innovation in the offshore industry.

Thomas also shares a glimpse of life at the yard, including some football talk and how they build a strong company culture.

This episode gives you a unique insight into how Aker Solutions combines traditional craftsmanship with modern technology to meet the future demands of offshore and onshore projects.
